LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - According to Miriam’s House, there are over 500 men, women, and children experiencing homelessness in the Lynchburg community. Thankfully, the nonprofit Miriam’s House is stepping in to help. WDBJ7 was able to go inside Miriam’s House where we learned homelessness isn’t always what you might think. Many times it’s caused by a crisis; domestic violence, job loss, and medical issues like mental health. For over 30 years, Miriam’s House has been serving the Lynchburg community.

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - More than 20 years later, a man who alleges he was sexually assaulted by a former Roanoke County athletic director is coming forward. Target 7 has reported on Randall Meck, who served as AD at Cave Spring High School until 2006, including his recent guilty plea in a federal child pornography case and the uncovering of a 2006 police report that showed school and law enforcement officials were made aware of allegations against Meck involving students.

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - On Saturday, May 24th, the non-profit organization All Vets held the 2025 Henry County Memorial Ruck at Jack Dalton Park. Nearly 30 dedicated people took the challenge of rucking before the sun came up, through the streets of Henry County, Virginia. Careen Rodgers says the event grew tremendously from last year. “We had active-duty military, veterans, retired, military spouses, and military children, it just sort of ran the gamut… as well as patriotic citizens,” said Rodgers.

Virginia Beach, Va. (WDBJ) - Almost everybody has somebody they’ve known and/or loved who’s been impacted by a crash. In 2024, 918 people died in crashes on Virginia’s roadways. The year before, the Commonwealth averaged a crash every 4.1 minutes, which equates to about 2 lives lost per day all because of traffic crashes. The Executive Director of Drive Smart Virginia, Kristin Pettway, says it’s not an acceptable way to die because it’s mostly preventable.

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - It takes four days to put together the circular stage Metallica will perform on May 7, 2025 in Blacksburg at Lane Stadium. Tour Coordinator Jon-Michael Marino took WDBJ7 through the back to see the intricate details. In total, 87 semi trucks are used for the M72 tour. However, not all 87 can fit on Virginia Tech’s campus. At this point in the tour, zero tour buses are used.
