    Keisha Renee Green, 35, was sentenced to 45 days in jail for contempt of court after failing to report for her 25-year sentence in the death of a 1-year-old boy. Green had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit second-degree murder in the death of Khalid Boyd, who died in January 2020. She fled before she was to report to begin serving her sentence but was captured in Texas and returned to Alexandria. Green filed a motion to have her sentence reconsidered, but the judge denied it as premature.

    An Alexandria man has been booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on charges related to a 2024 homicide, according to the Alexandria Police Department. Damirian Vidale Shorts, 29, was booked into jail Sunday on two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder, reads a news release. He remains in jail with bail set at $2,110,000 on those charges and two more — aggravated criminal damage and firearm possession by a felon, according to online jail records.
