COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A new study ranked Colorado second for reckless driving deaths, and an insurance analyst says that’s one factor contributing to your insurance rates. Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was referred to by LendingTree, a business platform that offers consumers loan information and financial resources. The data used was from 2018 to 2022. In that time, Colorado had about 19 reckless driving deaths per billion miles traveled.

The bill prompted criticism, including from dozens of Colorado school leaders last week. A transgender rights group, ‘One Colorado,’ told 11 News it suggested changes to the original proposal.

Kyle Mullica, a Democrat from Adams County and emergency room nurse, says the proposal aims to address what’s known as “balance billing,” a process that he says often results in “surprise” bills being sent to patients.

Legal Protections for Transgender Individuals is also called the Kelly Loving Act. Loving was a transgender woman and one of five victims killed in the 2022 mass shooting at Club Q, an LGBTQ+ bar in Colorado Springs. Supporters say the bill would protect children from being misgendered by their parents and at school.
