Judge McHenry sentenced Aldrich to 5 consecutive life sentences in prison, along with 2,200 years for the 46 attempted murder charges, and nearly 4 years for bias motivated crimes charges. McHenry says Aldrich will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Aldrich did not speak to the court before being sentenced, but Aldrich’s attorney said Aldrich is sorry for the shooting. That was followed by hushed reactions from survivors in the courtroom, seeming upset at the thought that the shooter could have remorse.

During victim impact statements, one woman criticized Aldrich’s claims of being non-binary. She referred to it as a defense tactic, saying “even an animal will beg for mercy.” Aldrich has not shown any apparent reactions this far in the hearing.

“We will grow stronger while you waste the rest of your life away,” the owner of Club Q says to Aldrich. The Fierro family, including accredited hero Richard Fierro, are now walking up to speak.

A survivor, who was bartending when the Club Q shooting happened, says “we were hunted down as if our lives were meaningless … I felt I was not going to make it out alive.” Those are the words from Michael Anderson, who worked with two of the victims who were killed.

On behalf of Derrick Rump, loved ones are speaking. They describe him as loving and caring as a son, brother, and friend. “Derrick was light to so many… He helped people through their struggles,” one person said. Emotions are high in the courtroom, as survivors shed tears.

Now Ashley Paugh’s sister is speaking. She says Ashley was 35 years old when she was killed and leaves behind a daughter. Ashley Paugh’s husband is also standing up to speak to the court.

Now Raymond Green Vance’s mother is speaking to the judge. She says her son was 22 years old when he was killed in the Club Q shooting. She says her son was kind, loving, and gentle. “What matters now is that he never sees a sunrise or a sunset,” she said, referring to Aldrich

Victim impact statements are starting with those speaking on behalf of Daniel Aston, one of five killed in the Club Q shooting.
