JASPER COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - Two solar farm projects could be coming to Jasper County with potential economic investments in the hundreds of millions of dollars. According to the Public Service Commission, the proposed facilities are known as Jasper Solar and Shubuta Creek. If approved, Jasper Solar would be about 3,000 acres and is estimated to cost around $310 million. COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) - The Columbia Police Department is in the midst of a major shakeup after several officers, including Chief Michael Kelly, have submitted their resignations, or quit, according to the mayor. Columbia Mayor Justin McKenzie has confirmed that the chief and five other officers have either turned in their resignations or walked away from the police department over the past week. McKenzie says one of the officers has since asked to rescind her resignation.
