CHICAGO — A South Side high school and the new pope share more than just a hometown. Leo High School, an all-boys Catholic school located at 7901 South Sangamon Street in Auburn Gresham, held a special prayer service Monday for Pope Leo XIV, the pontiff who shares a papal name and a South Side lineage with the school. In fact, the school is named after the new pope’s predecessor in name, Pope Leo XIII.

CHICAGO — Members of law enforcement and their families gathered downtown Sunday morning to honor fallen officers during the annual Saint Jude Memorial March. Thousands of police officers are making the solemn procession, which began at 8 a.m. at North Michigan Avenue and East Superior Street. The march travels north to East Chicago Avenue, where it then turns west on Chicago Ave. to North Clark Street.

Christian Surtz, a filmmaker based in the Chicago area, has co-directed a documentary exploring the life and legacy of Carlo Acutis, soon to be canonized as the first millennial saint of the Catholic Church for his use of technology to draw young people to faith. "Carlo Acutis: Roadmap to Reality," now playing in theaters, follows a group of high school students on a phone-free trip to Rome to visit Carlo's tomb. Surtz joined Sean Lewis and Jewell Hillery via Zoom from Rome on Sunday's WGN Weekend Morning News to discuss the film.

Folkers says the dish will be featured on Puttshack’s new menu starting Wednesday, April 30.
