CHICAGO (WGN) — A stabbing attack on the city’s Southwest Side left a man dead and sparked a police investigation overnight. According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded just before 11:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of South California Avenue in Brighton Park. Officers say they believe the incident occurred after the victim, a 23-year-old man, got into an argument with a woman who was accompanied by a group.

CHICAGO — A group of firefighters and paramedics were honored Wednesday for their role in saving the life of a 13-month-old child. The group being honored included two Chicago Fire Department paramedics and four EMTs who saved a life after receiving a call about a child in cardiac arrest earlier this year. Thanks to their life-saving measures, the child was brought back to life and on Wednesday, they received Project ADAM’s Community Hero Awards for their heroic work.

CHICAGO — A former Chicago police officer is expected to plead guilty Tuesday in the death of her husband. Jacqueline Villasenor is charged with one felony count of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutors said she shot and killed her husband German Villasenor, who was also a Chicago officer. Police said Villasenor and her husband were arguing in their home on the 8500 block of West Winona Street on the evening of November 2, 2021.

CHICAGO — Memorial Day is a day to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. There are multiple events taking place around Chicagoland on Monday to do just that, including the 10th annual South Side Memorial Day Parade, which steps off in the city’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood — and will finish with a new name. The event begins at 10 a.m. with a wreath ceremony at St. Leo’s Residence for Veterans, located at 7750 South Emerald Avenue.
