LOS ANGELES (AP) — Colorado Rockies designated hitter Kris Bryant has landed on the 10-day injured list with a bad back, the latest in a series of health issues that have resulted in nine IL stints since 2022. The team said the move, retroactive to Sunday, is due to lumbar degenerative disk disease. Bryant saw noted orthopedic spine surgeon Dr. Robert Watkins in Los Angeles on Monday. "It's been bothering him for a few days," manager Bud Black said.

Motiva Enterprises has begun a planned startup of its fluid catalytic cracking and alkylation units at its 659,700 b/d Port Arthur refinery, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The planned unit startup began Thursday and is expected to last for 11 days through the remainder of March, the filing showed. On Saturday, the company told TCEQ that an unspecified process unit upset resulted in flaring at the facility's lube hydrocracker.

DENVER (AP) — Casey Mittelstadt scored the go-ahead goal on a power play with 4:09 remaining, and the Colorado Avalanche beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1. Artturi Lehkonen scored twice, including into an empty net, and Jack Drury added another empty-netter as the Avalanche moved to 3-0 on their season-long, six-game homestand. Scott Wedgewood was stellar in goal, stopping 32 shots. Defenseman Ryan Lindgren made his Colorado debut after being acquired from the New York Rangers last weekend.
