It’s easy to forget that they’re still student-athletes. Arizona offensive tackle Tristan Bounds is a shining example of the latter. The transfer from Michigan is about two weeks away from earning a degree from UM’s Ross School of Business — while also being enrolled in classes at the UA.

The Arizona women’s basketball program continued to expand its coaching staff and roster Friday. New coach Becky Burke is bringing at least one of her assistants from Buffalo to Tucson. The UA announced that James Ewing will be joining the Wildcats’ staff after spending the past two seasons with the Bulls. “I am absolutely thrilled to have James here in Tucson with me,” Burke said in a news release.

The Arizona women's basketball team added its third transfer commitment in two days Wednesday evening when former Virginia guard Kamryn Kitchen announced she'll be playing for the Wildcats. Kitchen was ranked as the No. 57 prospect in the class of 2025 by ESPN's HoopGurlz before reclassifying to the class of '24 and joining the Cavaliers last summer. Kitchen ended up redshirting last season, meaning she has four years of eligibility remaining.

When he entered the transfer portal last June, Aaron Walton was playing summer ball for the Ocean State Waves of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. The Waves’ staff knew Arizona assistants Kevin Vance and John DeRouin, both of whom had coached in Rhode Island. Ocean State plays in the town of Wakefield. “They said, ‘Hey, you need to get on this guy,’” UA coach Chip Hale recalled.

New Arizona women's basketball coach Becky Burke continues to add pieces to her roster-building project. The latest transfer addition is Memphis wing Tanyuel Welch, as reported Wednesday by On3's Talia Goodman. Welch spent her first three seasons at Memphis. The 5-foot-10 Indianapolis product averaged 10.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.2 steals for the Tigers this past season. Welch redshirted the previous season after suffering a torn ACL.
