By Michael Talbot Hamilton Police say a woman who was shot in the Upper James Street and Mohawk Road area on Thursday night has died in hospital. In a social media post, police said the victim was rushed to hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Her exact age wasn't revealed, but police described her as an adult. "At this time, there is no suspect or vehicle description," police noted.

York Regional Police have arrested one person and are searching for a second suspect after two tow trucks were set on fire in Newmarket. The first incident took place on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at around 1 a.m.Officers responded to reports of a vehicle fire at a home in the Sandford Street and William Roe Boulevard area. Investigators were able to secure video footage that showed how the vehicle ended up in flames.

A New York Times investigation has found that Austrian-based luxury spa company Therme "misrepresented" itself and misled the province of Ontario in order to secure a lucrative, nearly century-long deal in Toronto. Therme Canada secured a 95-year lease as part of the province's plan to redevelop Ontario Place - a plan that has already ballooned in cost and drawn criticism from both and Auditor General, Shelley Spence.

Toronto police say multiple pedestrians have been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene at Toronto Metropolitan University on Tuesday afternoon. It happened at the campus' Nelson Mandela Walk in the Yonge Street and Gerrard Street East area at around 1:54 p.m.Police say four pedestrians were injured. Two were transported to a local hospital - one with serious, non-life-threatening injuries, the other with minor injuries.
