For many, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer and provides a welcome three-day weekend. But Kingman area veterans came together to mark the true reason for the holiday – remembering the many U.S. Military members who have given their lives over the past 250 years. The Kingman Marine Corps League Detachment 887 started the day off with their annual ceremony in Veterans Memorial Park downtown with about 50 people.

Kingman’s primary water source, the Hualapai Valley Groundwater Basin, is currently designated as an irrigation non-expansion area – commonly referred to as an INA. But as water issues throughout Arizona and the west become more pronounced there has been efforts to create new groundwater protections specifically for rural areas. The City of Kingman has been pushing to protect its basin for the past several years, and Mohave County is currently considering lending its support.

The Lee Williams High School Class of 2025 came together one last time on Tuesday, May 20 to celebrate the graduation of about 290 Volunteers and look back on their last four years. “I know it’s hard to believe it is all over, but tonight I encourage everyone to really take it all in. Soak in the laughter, the memories, and the faces around you. Because after today nothing will ever be quite the same,” said Student Body President Izaiah Orozco.

The Lake Havasu City Council says it won't need to raise any city taxes this year after seeing promising financial projections for the next five years.

Lake Havasu City's sales tax numbers picked up dramatically in early summer as May and June brought in more revenue than any other month last fiscal year. That helped Havasu finish the year with sales tax about 9% above budget.
