Two women have been arrested in connection with an attempted murder in Inverness. Police said the arrests of the two women, aged 23 and 39, came after officers investigated reports of an attempted murder and three robberies. The incidents are said to have taken place overnight between Tuesday June 24 and Wednesday 25. It is understood the arrests follow attacks on at least two taxi drivers in the Highland Capital.

Armed officers surrounded an Inverness property last night following concerns for a person. Police were called to Old Perth road on Tuesday evening. The house was surrounded by police vehicles and armed officers during a stand-off. It’s understood that the call-out was prompted by concerns for a person. Beechwood Park North was cordoned off by police as teams remained at the scene. Pictures posted on social media highlighted a large police presence in the area, adjacent to Raigmore Hospital.

Vans are being given priority entry at the Inverness recycling centre as part of a shake-up designed to ease congestion. The new traffic system came into play today, with cars being filtered into a holding area at the facility. Vans and those with trailers, meanwhile, will be given priority entry to enable easy manoeuvring. Council bosses have introduced the move in order to ease congestion in the area.

A disabled man says he feels ‘violated’ after Tesco staff opted to leave a damaged disabled toilet open to the public. Andrew Patterson was horrified to find a hole in the door frame of a disabled toilet at Aviemore’s Tesco store. The 61-year-old had stopped off 83 miles into his 144-mile journey north to Cullen on Saturday, June 14, when the incident happened.
