Police and paramedics have been called to the scene of a crash in Aberdeen. The collision happened on the A92 North Anderson Drive shortly after 4.30pm. Emergency crews have been called to the scene, close to the junction with the A944 Westburn Road. Onlookers have reported seeing two vehicles in the middle of the road, with as many as three parked cars also involved. Drivers are urged to avoid the area. The severity of any injuries is unclear at this time.

Fire crews are working to contain a blaze near the St Fergus Gas Plant. Four teams from Peterhead and Fraserburgh are currently at the scene. The fire has taken hold on land close to the north-east gas terminal. It has been a challenging week for fire crews in both Grampian and the Highlands, with firefighters working around the clock to contain a host of serious wildfires. Wild campers have been branded ‘irresponsible and inconsiderate’ after leaving a path of destruction in their wake. Rangers were horrified to discover an abandoned campsite in the Glen Affric area together with evidence of a large campfire – amid severe wildfire warnings. Piles of litter and 50 glass bottles were left scattered across the area, while the group also abandoned large amounts of camping gear.

Fire crews are battling a large blaze on Scotland’s north coast as an extreme wildfire warning is issued. Four crews were sent to the Thurso area this afternoon following reports of a fire to the rear of John Kennedy Drive, near to the Pennyland and Ormlie areas of the town. An area of moorland, about 300 by 200 metres, is currently ablaze, by the A836, which is the main route that runs along the north coast towards Durness. Firefighters have been enduring blazing heat as they tackle the fire.

A number of sites have been identified around Inverness and Nairn for the creation of more than 830 new homes. Housebuilding firm Barratt and David Wilson Homes says the projects will create jobs and meet “growing demand” for accommodation in the Highlands. It has acquired three sites, with work already underway on a new coastal development in Delnies, on the outskirts of Nairn. It looks out to the mouth of the Moray Firth and Black Isle and will deliver 75 affordable homes.
