Girvans on Stephens Street has been serving diners in the Highland Capital since 1991 and is described as an “icon” of the local food scene. It is a hit with locals and tourists alike and customers can often be seen queuing for a table, such is its reputation. Now the family-run restaurant has been listed for sale by agents Graham and Sibbald for offers over £825,000.

Two drug dealers have been jailed after police seized £135,000 worth of class A drugs in Lerwick. Nigel Scott and Matthew Smith, both 50, appeared for sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh on Tuesday after being found guilty of supplying heroin. The pair were pulled over by police back in May 2021 in the Sandveien area of Lerwick. A thorough search of their van led to the recovery of more than 2kg of heroin, worth an estimated street value of over £135,000.

Concerns have been raised about staff safety at Dounreay Nuclear Plant after a worker was left with minor injuries. The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has issued the Caithness facility with an improvement notice after failings were found concerning staff welfare. The warning comes just three months after a worker sustained minor injuries during an operation to move a radiological contamination monitor.

Two people have been charged after a crash involving a police car in Aberdeen. The two-vehicle crash, involving a marked police car, happened on Upper Mastrick Way shortly before 9am on Sunday. Locals reported a large police response in the area with multiple vehicles spotted at the scene. Police have confirmed there were no reported injuries.

Firefighters have been called to the scene of a crash on the A96 in Aberdeenshire. The single-vehicle collision happened on the Aberdeen to Inverness road, south of Pitmachie, shortly before noon on Sunday. Police and firefighters attended the incident. A spokesperson for the fire service confirmed crews had helped the occupants of the vehicle before leaving the scene at 12.48pm. It has not been confirmed whether anyone was injured. The road remains open.
