Elgin’s Bilbohall housing development has been delayed because the new houses cannot be supplied with power. Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) told Moray Council they did not have the grid capacity in Elgin to service the new housing. Council officers spoke of their “frustration” with SSEN, who they have been liaising with for some time. SSEN say they are “working closely” with the council to see if they can find a solution to the power issues sooner than 2030.

Invergordon Football Club have lodged new plans for a complete revamp of their home ground. The plans seek to transform the team’s pitch, on the recreation grounds, adding floodlights and a new stand for spectators. It comes as the team has high hopes for a Highland League promotion after a successful start to this year’s North Caledonian League. The reigning league champions will also reduce the size of their current pitch and install five metre high fencing.

Tourists and visitors on Inverness’s hop-on hop-off bus service could become Highland Council’s latest money maker. Council leaders said “an influx of tourists” expected to visit Inverness this year can help generate additional revenue for the council. It comes off the back of the council’s landmark new deal to take over Inverness based-D&E Coaches Highland operation. The City Sightseeing bus service has been operated by D&E Coaches for a number of years and is now under council control.
