OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. - A sergeant with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office who had once been fired from the agency for speeding in his patrol vehicle was pulled over in February for driving his personal car too fast, News 6 has learned. A fellow deputy claimed that Sgt. Gabriel Garcia was driving the BMW "more than 100" miles per hour on a road with a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour. However, Garcia was issued a written warning instead of a speeding citation.

ORLANDO, Fla. - An artificial intelligence company is asking a federal judge to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit filed by a Central Florida mother who claims her 14-year-old son committed suicide after becoming "addicted" to an AI chatbot app. Megan Garcia alleges that her teenage son, Sewell Setzer, developed mental health issues while using Character.AI, an app that allows users to chat online with computer-generated characters.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The man accused of raping and murdering 13-year-old Madeline Soto is asking a judge to delay an upcoming court hearing because his attorneys have recently obtained "confidential information" related to the case, court records show. Sterns' public defender previously asked a judge to bar jurors from seeing evidence collected from Sterns' cell phone and Google account, claiming investigators unlawfully seized and searched his phone.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Phoenix Ikner, the 20-year-old Florida State University student accused of shooting and killing two people on campus Thursday, suffered from "several health and mental issues" as a child and was taken by his mother, who fled the country, court records indicate. Originally known as Christian Eriksen, acquaintances said Ikner changed his name following a years-long custody battle between his parents.
