The Reform Party today published its version of a manifesto, which it calls a “Contract”. The party says: “Our Contract with You is not just another party manifesto”. The document features images of the white cliffs of Dover, farming in Northumberland, Nigel Farage, Richard Tice and activists on the doorstep and at events.

PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK/Gray News) - Authorities in Illinois say a child has died after suffering a medical emergency during a flight traveling to Chicago. According to the Peoria County coroner’s office, an 8-year-old girl was pronounced dead after a medical emergency forced a Chicago-bound plane to divert to Peoria on Thursday morning. Peoria County authorities identified the child as Sydney Weston, of Missouri.

Laura Ashby is driven to provide defibrillators to area emergency responders to try to prevent the kind of sudden cardiac arrest that took her son Dave Ashby too young, when the otherwise healthy Dewey Beach resident died asleep on his couch due to an irregular heart rhythm. The Dave’s Dewey Dash 5K race and walk on Sept. 30 drew more than 100 runners and 50 walkers at the Rusty Rudder restaurant, which also co-sponsored the race and has purchased several of its own defibrillators.
Abbott steps down from South Bethany Town Council

Attorney Derek C. Abbott, a South Bethany Town Council member who served as chairman of the Charter & Code Committee and was the council liaison on the Canal Water Quality Committee, stepped down from the council last week, effective immediately. The move came in the hours before the council held its workshop on parking issues on Friday, Sept. 22. He apologized to the council members for not calling each of them individually but said he simply ran out of time.

People for Offshore Wind Energy Resources (POWER) hosted a meeting this week on the economic and workforce benefits of offshore wind-power in Delaware, with dozens joining the Delaware Nature Society and panelists. The wind-energy industry is expected to invest $25 billion in power generation and transmission, and to create 83,000 jobs nationally. Delaware could benefit if it agrees to engage with wind power, said the POWER organizers on Tuesday evening in Wilmington.

Three people were injured following a collision between a car and an Indian River School District on Tuesday, Sept. 26, around 3:30 p.m., in which a 17-year-old Laurel girl coming home from school on Route 9 hit the school bus with her Volkswagen. The accident happened between Route 113 and Sussex Tech on busy Route 9 near Georgetown.

Aniya Harmon, 18, last week filed a lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court against Sussex Central High School Principal Bradley Layfield and Assistant Principal Matt Jones over an incident in which surveillance video of her breast, exposed during a May 17 hallway skirmish — and later a meme utilizing an image from that video — were allegedly shared beyond law enforcement involved in the incident.
