Lenexa Police confirm that one person has died following an officer-involved shooting early Sunday morning. In a post on X, Lenexa Police say they were called to an apartment complex in the 12400 block of West 97th Terrace for a report of a person with a gun at about 3 a.m.According to the department’s calls for service log, the first-responder drone was also used. Police have not said what the person was doing with the gun before officers were called to respond.

A Lenexa man has been charged with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer following Tuesday morning’s exchange of gunfire between a police officer and a fleeing suspect in Shawnee.

The Shawnee Police Department says that an officer exchanged gunfire with a suspect on Tuesday morning. In a news release, Shawnee Public Safety Information Officer Emily Rittman said officers responded to a report of gunfire near 67th Street and Lackman Road at about 5:05 a.m.Rittman said a suspect was taken into custody and that there is “no ongoing threat to the public.” She added that no one was injured in the incident.

Lenexa Police continue to investigate after a 16-year-old was shot multiple times late Sunday night. According to the department’s online calls for service log, officers were dispatched to the London House Apartments, located in the 12700 block of Lord Nelson Drive, at 11:27 p.m. to investigate reports of gunshots heard. A first responder drone was also dispatched to the call.

Two Johnson County men were arrested late Thursday after leading several local police departments on a car chase that ended with a standoff on Interstate 35 near 75th Street. Master Police Officer Danny Chavez of the Lenexa Police Department said that the incident began as a theft at a QuikTrip located at 12355 W. 95th Street. The Lenexa police department’s calls for service log lists 8:49 p.m. as the time the call was dispatched.
