A man wanted on a bench warrant in Johnson County was arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol in upstate New York on Tuesday. In a news release, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Public Affairs Officer Mike Niezgoda said Border Patrol agents arrested Guillermo Lugardo-Valerio, 35, near Oswego, N.Y.Oswego is located on the southeast shore of Lake Ontario, about 40 miles northwest of Syracuse.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a truck being pursued by law enforcement caused a serious injury crash on Interstate 35 in Johnson County Monday night. According to the highway patrol’s online crash log, the crash happened at about 10:20 p.m. on the ramp from northbound I-35 to northbound I-635 in Overland Park. Troopers say a 57-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man was driving a 2002 Ford F-150 when the truck rear-ended a 2011 Kia Soul driven by a 17-year-old girl from Kansas City, Kan.

Overland Park Police are investigating a deadly crash that happened late Saturday night near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Metcalf Avenue. In a news release Tuesday morning, Overland Park Police spokesperson Ofc. John Lacy said that the crash involved a single vehicle that collided with a tree. At approximately 11:32 p.m. Saturday, a Nissan SUV was being driven northbound on Metcalf Avenue and took the ramp to eastbound Shawnee Mission Parkway.

A Kansas man is in critical condition after his motorcycle crashed into the back of a stopped SUV on Kansas Highway 10 in Johnson County on Friday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash happened in the eastbound lanes of K-10 near Ridgeview Road in Olathe at about 3:40 p.m.According to the highway patrol’s online crash log, a 34-year-old man from Hartford, Kansas, a small town southeast of Emporia, was riding a 2024 Harley-Davidson Nightster when he rear-ended a 2024 BMW X1 SUV.
