CANANDAIGUA — The Ontario County sheriff’s corrections officer accused of eavesdropping — but exonerated by a grand jury — has taken legal action against the county and Sheriff David Cirencione over the sheriff’s determination of guilt and discipline in the matter. Daniel DeBolt, an attorney for the union representing county corrections officers, filed the Article 78 petition recently in State Supreme Court on behalf of Adam Broadwell.

CANANDAIGUA — It was almost 10 years ago that Lucile Mallard’s colleagues in the Ontario County Court system threw a surprise party on her 70th birthday. That was a small gathering compared to Thursday. More than 100 people — judges, attorneys, co-workers, family, and friends — packed the building’s south courtroom to honor the well-known Geneva resident on her retirement after 23 years as coordinator of the county’s treatment court, commonly called drug court.

ARCADIA — A fire department based in this Wayne County town is suing a recent fire chief and his wife, claiming they took more than $100,000 in department funds for their personal use. Syracuse-based attorney Bradley Pinsky filed the lawsuit Monday in State Supreme Court on behalf of the Marbletown Volunteer Fire Department. The defendants are William and Nicole Storrs, who live in Arcadia. In an email to the Finger Lakes Times, Pinsky declined to comment on the lawsuit beyond the court papers.
