UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — After a lengthy $70 million renovation, The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Michael C. Rockefeller Wing — which houses the museum's Africa, Ancient Americas, and Oceania collections — will reopen to the public on Saturday with an opening day celebration, the Met said. From 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 31, the museum's plaza will have live music and art-making activities inspired by the cultures showcased in the new galleries.

FORT GEORGE, NY — Police were looking Wednesday for suspects after a 77-year-old man was robbed in Fort George, New York City Police Department officials said. According to the NYPD, the man was walking in front of 360 Dyckman St. on Saturday at 7:40 p.m. when a man on a bicycle forcibly removed the man's cell phone from his hand. The two struggled over the phone, and the victim fell to the ground, at which point, the perpetrator ran away on foot, heading downtown, with the phone, police said.

HARLEM, NY — A 63-year-old man was stabbed in Harlem on Thursday morning, New York City Police Department officials said. According to the NYPD, the man was stabbed in the abdomen at the corner of West 130th Street and Lenox Avenue at 4:48 a.m. Thursday. The perpetrator ran away in an unknown direction, police said. So far, the intersection doesn't have any security video footage showing what led up to the attack or where the perpetrator ran, NYPD sources told Patch.

MIDTOWN, NY — A fire erupted in a 35-story Hilton hotel near the corner of West 53rd Street and Sixth Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, New York City Fire Department officials said. According to the FDNY, the fire broke out at 1326 Sixth Ave. at 4:51 p.m. Videos posted to social media Tuesday afternoon show large plumes of black smoke hanging over the street. Operations are ongoing, FDNY officials said.

HARLEM, NY — Flags across New York state will be flown at half-mast on Tuesday in honor of Congressman Charles Rangel, a lifelong Harlem resident, who died on Monday at 94 years old, Governor Kathy Hochul said. Rangel, nicknamed the "Lion of Lenox Avenue," served 23 terms in Congress, totaling 46 years from 1970 to 2016, and was a founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
