Royal LePage’s latest housing market forecast predicts a real estate rebound that will see Canada’s “sluggish” markets in recovery mode by spring following a third straight interest rate cut. The real estate company released its third quarter home price update and market forecast for the year on Thursday, which found that the national aggregate home price increased 1.6 per cent year-over-year to $815,500 in the third quarter of 2024 and decreased 1.1 per cent from the previous quarter.

An organization that ranks the best universities across the globe says its latest report shows a concerning trend that several of Canada’s institutions are slipping down its list. The Ontario government has lowered the age for regular mammogram breast screening to allow all woman between the age of 40 and 49 to self-refer for the service. The province issued a news release on Tuesday announcing that the change will began immediately and will give an additional one million woman in Ontario the option to get screened earlier.

Police say they have arrested a man in Burlington, Ont., in connection with child luring charges. Halton Regional Police issued a news release on Friday saying officers launched a joint investigation with Ontario Provincial Police in July using a number of social media platforms. As a result of the investigation, police said they arrested 28-year-old Eric Straughan-Ostrosky on Oct. 3. He has since been charged with three counts of luring a child and making child pornography.
