The Clinton Township Board of Trustees has denied a special land use and site development plan that would have allowed a company to run high-voltage power lines down 19 Mile Road to provide electricity to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. Board members voted 6-1 Monday night to reject International Transmission Company’s plans to run the lines along the north side of 19 Mile between Hayes and Garfield roads and place the lines about 50 feet from residences at a condominium complex.

A Chippewa Valley Schools teacher who routinely sends a postcard home to students with an encouraging message has been named the 2025 Educator of the Year, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Tuesday. Kelly Heberholz, a science teacher at Dakota High School in Macomb Township, received the award and a $10,000 prize from the Michigan Lottery’s Excellence in Education program.

The Uptown Friday Night Concert Series returns to downtown Mount Clemens for a 15th season on Friday in a new and temporary location. In the past, the concert setting would be at the Fountain Stage on Macomb Place, but for this year, the music is moving a couple of blocks over due to a construction project.
