The community can donate to a fundraiser to support a Mead man who lost his 57-year-old wife in an April 30 vehicle collision on U.S. 85, near Platteville. In the afternoon of April 30, a northbound GMC Yukon on U.S. 85, fleeing from police, crossed the center median into the southbound lanes, colliding head-on with a Toyota 4Runner. The Toyota 4Runner’s driver, Christine Ann Schwarz, 57, of Mead, and the two people inside the GMC Yukon, died from the impact after both vehicles caught fire.

When 28-year-old Sarah Maynard came to Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital on Christmas Day in 2024 for inpatient treatment, she could not sit at the edge of her bed without losing her balance. Now, nearly five months later in outpatient therapy, she has started to walk without the help of mobility aids because of the Rise&Walk.

A beloved blind rescue dog from Ault, who inspired the children’s book “Crooze on Croozer,” has peacefully died. Croozer, a blue heeler cattle dog, was abandoned with serious health issues and blindness during the COVID-19 pandemic, yet he made a remarkable recovery with the support of four nonprofits, according to his owner, Suzie Roberts. Roberts had the opportunity to share Croozer’s story of courage and resiliency with nationally acclaimed author Peggy Sundberg, known as Cowgirl Peg.

Banner Health hosted its second annual community meeting Tuesday morning to discuss the health needs in northern Colorado communities. The interactive, virtual meeting highlighted the ongoing initiatives to improve overall health outcomes and gathered feedback from the over 50 residents in attendance.
