Students can now apply for openings on the Colorado Youth Advisory Council for the 2025-27 term. The Colorado Legislature’s Youth Advisory Council gives a voice in lawmaking to teens ages 14-19, according to a council news release. The 2025-27 term looks to fill two at-large seats for rural applicants, one opening for a member of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and State Senate district seats for 1, 4, 11, 12, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 29, 30, 32 and 35.

After four years of hard work and dedication to reach graduation, Dante Parlin has his regrets. Parlin, the Greeley Central High School senior class president of the 2024-25 school year, spent his time in high school focused on building an impressive resume, taking AP courses, excelling in academics and partaking in extracurricular activities, all to get admitted to his top-choice university one day.

Southeast Weld Fire Chief Tom Beach lost both his parents to cancer in the same year. Cancer’s impact on Beach moved him to prioritize preventative screenings for his firefighting team. While they blazes they approach in their line of work can be deadly, cancer continues to be a leading cause of death among firefighters. The gases, vapors and particulates firefighters can be exposed to increase the risk of certain types of cancer.

It took Don Wagner 30 years to do what the class of 2025 did in four years. Leave high school. Greeley West High School celebrated its 59th annual commencement ceremony Saturday morning at Nottingham Field. Although a rainy day, “nothing stops a Spartan,” Wagner said. As part of Spartan tradition, the graduating seniors selected a beloved staff member to deliver a commencement address at their ceremony.
