BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - A downtown Bangor restaurant has closed, for now. It’s the owner’s third business to close this year. There’s a handwritten sign outside of The Grind House that says they’re closed -- temporarily -- see you soon, with a smiley face. Dave Reesman has owned the business since 2018. According to the Maine Revenue Service, they served the business a revocation and the door was stickered on May 14th.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) - Making Bangor more beautiful one mural at a time. That’s the goal of one non-profit that keeps finding spaces to create memorable art for everyone to enjoy. Bangor Beautiful has been adding art all around the city for several years now. Their latest spot is the fence that runs in front of Maine Savings Amphitheater. They say the 760-foot series of murals will be done in three stages. The hope behind the project is simple -- that the art makes people smile.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) -An appeal by a Bangor homeowner of a notice of violation for work done on his roof was unanimously denied by the city’s board of appeals Thursday night. We spoke to Steven Farren earlier this week. He has owned his home for just under eight years. The city of Bangor served him a notice of violation after he pursued replacing the slate on the roof of his historic home with asphalt.

MILBRIDGE, Maine (WABI) -A Downeast community is grieving as they once again search for one of their own who went missing on the water. Family members of a missing Milbridge man say they won’t stop searching until they bring him home. 51-year-old Alton Wallace went missing in the area of Narraguagus Bay Sunday. Wallace was reported missing by a family member after he did not return from harvesting clams. The Marine Patrol used Wallace’s last cell phone ping to determine a location for the search.

BANGOR, Maine (WABI) -A former Bangor Taekwondo instructor accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl made his first court appearance Monday. 59-year-old John Keeler is charged with 10 counts of gross sexual assault with a child under 12, as well as other unlawful sexual misconduct charges. Keeler was arrested Friday. The Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office says he worked as a Taekwondo instructor in the Bangor area.
