The deaths of a man and a woman who died in a fiery explosion at a New Jersey home over the weekend have been ruled a murder-suicide, authorities confirmed Tuesday. The blast occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday in Washington Township, police said in a statement. When officers arrived on the scene — located on a street named Tranquility Court — the house was “fully engulfed in flames and appeared to have been heavily damaged by an apparent explosion,” the statement continued.

A New Jersey man has been arrested for murder and related offenses after a double stabbing in Toms River left one victim dead and the other under arrest, officials announced Saturday. Steven McNeill, 32, was taken into custody by Jackson Township police on Friday, hours after he allegedly stabbed two male victims at an Adams Avenue residence, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said in a news release.

A Long Island man has been convicted of fatally shooting his longtime friend in 2023, prosecutors announced Friday. James Brown, 45, is accused of killing Umar Elquhir, also 45, following a physical altercation near Brown’s residence on the Poospatuck Reservation in Mastic on Nov. 7, 2023. Video surveillance footage from outside Brown’s home shows Elquhir leaving after the two men got into a fight earlier in the evening, officials said.
