The NYPD is still on the lookout for a man with a dark complexion who was last seen wearing a black Reebok hooded sweater and black Crocs. On Thursday, May 29, at about 5:30 p.m., the unidentified man and a 24-year-old man both were at Archer Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica when they boarded a Q43 bus, said police. The two men got into an argument that intensified when the unidentified man punched the 24-year-old multiple times on his head and body.

Community Board 13 is having its first in-person meeting for the year on Monday, June 23, starting at 7:30 p.m.Board members were asked to arrive early to Next City Church, located at 240-15 Hillside Ave. in Bellerose Manor. Ballots are to be cast for board positions. David Pecoraro, a member of the organization who has pleaded for in-person or recorded hybrid forums, was pleased to learn members will meet face-to-face.

To close out its series on Juneteenth, the commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865, the Queens Public Library will host a presentation about Anna Murray Douglass, the wife of abolitionist Frederick Douglass. The presentation will be held Monday, June 23, at the Central Library, located at 89-11 Merrick Blvd. in Jamaica, from 6 to 7 p.m. All are welcome. The event will feature a replica of Douglass’ wedding dress, a plum-colored silk gown, according to the library.

The final member of a Queens deed theft crew was sentenced to three to nine years in prison last Wednesday after being found guilty on 18 charges, said the office of state Attorney General Tish James. Stacie Saunders, a licensed real estate salesperson and former bank branch manager from Central Islip, LI, was an instrumental part of the crew, according to James’ office.

Two rallies were held earlier this month in support of moving four planned lithium-ion battery storage facilities in Southeast Queens away from residential areas to a nearby industrial business zone. Despite the outcry, state legislation that would have allowed the battery energy storage systems to operate, but far away from homes, did not get out of committee in the Legislature before the legislative session was set to conclude June 12.
