The Red Lion and Sun, in North Road, Highgate, has been nominated in the Greater London region of the National Pub & Bar Awards 2025 which will be held in June. Heath Ball, who owns the pub, said the news was "a ray of sunshine on a gloomy day".

The Magdala in South Hill Park, Hampstead, has been recognised as North London Camra (Campaign for Real Ale) pub of the year. The pub, on the edge of Hampstead Heath, reopened in 2021 after a seven-year closure.

Toby Carvery has defended its decision to fell an ancient oak tree thought to be more than 400 years old. The tree, which measures 6.1 metres around its trunk, is located near the Whitewebbs House Toby Carvery car park within the Whitewebbs Park. The oak had been assessed as dying and a risk to the public by tree experts employed by the company’s owner Mitchells & Butlers, and was cut down on April 3, the PA news agency understands.
