Thousands packed downtown Columbus and the Short North with the colors of the rainbow June 14 for the 2025 Stonewall Columbus Pride Festival and March. Marchers and demonstrators alike decked themselves out in rainbow colors and waved Pride flags and banners during the parade, which lasted over two hours and seemed to go on for miles, from its starting point by the Ohio Statehouse to Goodale Park.

The streets of Columbus will be a bit more colorful June 14 as the massive Stonewall Columbus Pride Festival and March takes over downtown and the Short North. Meanwhile, protesters are holding No Kings rallies across the region, state and nation as President Donald Trump plans a military parade. Indivisible Central Ohio held its downtown Columbus No Kings event June 13, so as to not conflict with the Pride celebration, but group members will march in Saturday's parade.

One person died and another suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Columbus' Southeast Side. A silver Toyota traveling north on South Hamilton Road and a red Ford traveling west on Eastland Two collided at the intersection, just before 2 a.m. May 24, according to a Columbus police news release. An adult passenger of the Toyota died at the scene at 2:13 a.m., according to the news release. The adult driver ran from the scene.

I always tell people I became a journalist by accident. It's not that I didn't enjoy being a reporter, photographer, editor and business manager for my high school's student newspaper. But at the time, the popular TV show "CSI" had just started airing, and I was enthralled. I wanted to be a crime scene investigator and/or a forensic scientist whose work would track down the bad guy.

Police arrested a Columbus man Friday on a murder charge in connection to a January 2023 homicide on the city's North Side, a day after a woman pleaded guilty and was sentenced in the case. Columbus Police SWAT officers arrested Nehemiah Isom Garnett, 21, of the city's Southeast Side, on a warrant for murder in the Jan. 9, 2023, shooting death of Juan Pablo Aleman, 40, according to a news release.
