Firefighters are warning residents near Mount French in Queensland's Scenic Rim to seek shelter immediately, as they work to fight a "large, fast-moving" blaze that is threatening homes. The fire warning is current for anyone in the vicinity of Mount French Road, Sommers Road and Frenches Creek Road. Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) said "driving now could be deadly". Queensland Fire and Rescue said 10 crews were on scene battling the vegetation fire, with 12 more crews on the way.

The child of a man wanted over the 26-year-old cold case murder of Meaghan Louise Rose has urged him to turn himself in. Keith Lees, 70, has been missing since June after he was visited by police about the case. Ms Rose's body was found at the bottom of the Point Cartwright cliffs at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast on July 18, 1997. She was 25 years old. No arrests were made at the time.
