Kansas City police are investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed Thursday evening near 55th and Euclid Avenue.Officers initially responded to a report of gunfire shortly after 5:30 p.m. The call was later upgraded to a shooting, and the location was updated to the 5500 block of Euclid.Police found a male victim inside a vehicle.

Kansas City police are investigating reports of predatory towing and are asking anyone who believes they were targeted since Jan. 1 to come forward. Detectives are asking affected individuals to email [email protected], where they will receive a form to complete as part of the investigation.This public appeal comes as criminal charges were recently filed against the owner of Metro Tow and Transport, Donald Adamson, and his mother, Lannette Adamson.

Jackson County officials announced Wednesday that residential property assessment increases will be limited to 15% in 2025. County Executive Frank White and County Assessor Gail McCann Beatty said the state failed to provide a “lawful, workable path forward” following ongoing disputes over assessment procedures. The new cap will take effect starting this year but will not be retroactive to 2023.
