Councilman Kenneth Cornelius told News 19 that, when the time came to renew the city insurance, the company said they would not be renewing.

    MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — In a special-called meeting on Friday, the Madison City Council decided on a plan for renovations at Toyota Field. Discussions regarding renovations at Toyota Field began back in November 2024. The city was required to construct a new clubhouse for the visiting team to comply with MLB standards. Further, MLB asks for designated areas for women umpires or women affiliated with any of the teams. This allows the current visitors’ clubhouse to become an area for women.

    HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Police said they have reason to believe a deadly shooting in Downtown Huntsville on Monday was accidental. The Huntsville Police Department told News 19 that a call regarding a shooting came in just after 12:30 p.m. on May 12. News 19 arrived first at the scene of the shooting on the corner of Clinton Avenue and Spragins Street. “At 12:39, we received a shots fired call or a shooting in progress at the 100 block of Jefferson Street,” said Chris Jackson.

    CULLMAN, Ala. (WHNT) — The Cullman County District Attorney says a grand jury has determined that 58 cases investigated by the Hanceville Police Department cannot be prosecuted. District Attorney Champ Crocker said a Cullman County Grand jury conceded in April and voted to dismiss 58 felony cases previously investigated by the Hanceville Police Department. Crocker said the dismissals are due to “the illegal actions” of several former Hanceville Police officers.

    MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – After two years of continuous construction, the new flyover ramp that connects I-565 and Town Madison is finished and now open. The City of Madison announced the new interchange at I-565 would open on Friday, March 21.
