DENVER, Colo. (KDVR) — In the midst of the massive backlog of sexual assault kits the Colorado Bureau of Investigations is grappling with, FOX31 is now learning that the state is going to pay Denver’s crime lab to take kits back for testing. CBI’s website has a dashboard showing the sex assault kit testing turnaround time as it changes month to month. At last count, published March 31st, CBI is experiencing a backlog of more than 1,400 cases with an estimated turnaround of 558 days.

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Police Department announced it is now going to independently review hundreds of sexual assault cases handled by former CBI analyst Yvonne “Missy” Woods. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is currently in the process of reviewing more than 10,000 cases Woods worked on in almost 30 years with CBI. So far, CBI has already found 1,003 cases impacted by her alleged misconduct.

DENVER, Colo. (KDVR) — Denver Police are releasing body camera footage from an officer-involved shooting last month that ended with a suspect dead. Normally, DPD holds press conference and body camera video releases within around a week of an officer-involved shooting. However, Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said this was delayed in order to notify the family of the man killed and give them the video first.
