Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka was released from the Homeland Security Investigations Newark office at about 8 p.m. Friday after he was arrested during a protest at Delaney Hall that afternoon. Baraka was arrested for trespassing, and Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba’s statement said that Baraka “ignored multiple warnings” from Homeland Security Investigations to remove himself from the Newark immigrant detention center.

NEWARK - The controversial $6 billion Newark Bay Bridge replacement has received a permit and “finding of no significant impact” from the U.S. Coast Guard, clearing the way for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority to proceed with the construction of an extension between Interchanges 14 in Newark and 14A in Bayonne and Jersey City.
