Councillors and highways chiefs at Derby City Council have met to discuss the possibility of a weight limit restriction for vehicles to be introduced in Spondon because of frequent problems with lorries. It comes after the road network in the Derby suburb was described by worried councillors as “extremely fragile” with high levels of traffic and congestion a common problem. Asparagus, tarragon sauce, almond crumbs Photographs by Jonathan Lovekin The first asparagus of the year tends to take me by surprise, and this year was no exception. Deep mossy green, their tips tight and tinged with violet, they were wrapped in paper like a bouquet of flowers. They were also laughably expensive, so I left them for others and waited a week or two. The first I bought were too thin to pick up with our fingers, but had a fine flavour.

The end of the blood orange season draws close. I see out its sweet, ruby juice and carmine-freckled flesh with a bang, serving it in a salad with grapefruit and Spanish oranges. A mint-leaf syrup, chilled and spiked with lime, will make the fruit sing even louder. The recipeReady in 30 minutes. Serves 4. Start by making the syrup. Put 100g of caster or granulated sugar in a medium saucepan, pour in 400ml of water and then bring it to the boil.

Zhao Xintong's day. No doubt about it, at 11-6 ahead. Can he cope with the pressure? He's seven more frames from a hugely historic moment in snooker. Mark Williams still has a fighting chance but Zhao is a big favourite. #snooker

Brilliant commentary from David Hendon in this mad frame between Judd Trump and Mark Williams, full of misses and drama. "It feels like the frame has had a drink....maybe too much. Time for a bit of calm."

What a wonderful moment at the Crucible! A deserved standing ovation for Judd Trump as he makes his 100th century break of the season, earning him a £100k bonus. #snooker https://t.co/PgIXruzIdU
