LACKAWANNA COUNTY, Pa. — Bread Basket of NEPA is a series of seven food pantries in Lackawanna County. "We have a veterans pantry and a Latino pantry. Serving our most vulnerable is Door Dash, reaching people who do not have transportation," Bread Basket of NEPA Board President Rosemary Bohenek said. The non-profit recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Bread Basket of NEPA served more than 29,000 people last year. "The need is great, and it's increasing as the food prices go up.

DUNMORE, Pa. — Flowers are some of the most popular Mother’s Day gifts, and Jerry’s for All Seasons in Dunmore has a lot of them! The greenhouse is filled with hanging baskets, potted plants and everything you need for your garden. Jerry’s for All Seasons has more than 10,000 hanging baskets. Employees say this is one of the busiest times of the year at the store, as people are starting to plant for the season. Mother’s Day weekend is when many people start their gardens.

SCRANTON, Pa. — An event in Scranton aims to unite people with live music, comedy and wrestling. It’s called The Scene Unites Fest. The event is Saturday May 24th from 11:30-9:30 at the Viking Football Field on Cayuga Street in Scranton. This event is a fundraiser for NEPA Scene, a non-profit local media organization that has spent the last 10 years shining a spotlight on musicians from across our region.

The facility in Forty Fort provides non-medical services to cancer patients, their families, and caregivers. Haven to Home hosts canine-friendly events to raise funds

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. — The dogs never stop coming in at Haven to Home Canine Rescue. Recently the rescue in Central Pennsylvania took in these Cavapoos that required heavy grooming, vaccines and spaying. Haven to Home is an all foster-based rescue which started in 2008. "We're all volunteers in all foster homes and we've rehomed over 3,000 dogs in those years," Volunteer Marcy Benner said. Since Haven to Home does not have a physical location it relies on foster homes.
Enjoy tulip festival and baby animals at Brown Hill Farms

WYOMING COUNTY, Pa. — Tulips and baby animals spell out spring at a farm in Wyoming County. The Tulip Festival opened this week at Brown Hill Farms and this weekend is the farm’s baby animal event. Baby Animal Weekend is May 3rd from 10 am-6 pm and May 4th from 12 pm-6 pm. You’ll be able to see and pet the new spring babies at the farm. There will also be photo opportunities. At Brown Hill Farms the tulips are the main attraction. There are five acres and over 500,000 tulips.
West Pittston blooms for 54th Cherry Blossom Festival celebration

WEST PITTSTON, Pa. — A flowery festival kicks off Saturday in Luzerne County. The West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival is in its 54th year. It's a weekend of food, fun and music, with the cherry blossoms as the star of the show. The event kicks off Saturday morning with the “Cherry Blossom Charge”, a two mile run in memory of former committee member Bob Messina. The race is followed by a parade, Little Miss Cherry Blossom contest and more.
Nay Aug Park plays host to community event for seniors on Friday, May 9

SCRANTON, Pa. — Nay Aug Park is the place to be next Friday for the Lackawanna Community Celebration. The free age-friendly event is geared towards senior citizens in our area. The event is being held by the Age Friendly Lackawanna Group and will offer free food, music, dancing, activities and social connections. There is also free admission to the Everhart Museum, and free tours of the Brooks Mine. Attendees can also hear from Lackawanna County Reps and AARP Pennsylvania.
PurpleStride 2023 raises awareness at Nay Aug Park

SCRANTON, Pa. — Nay Aug Park will be a sea of purple this weekend for the PurpleStride. The event raises money and awareness for those dealing with pancreatic cancer. "You could do a fun run which is a little more than a 5k, so 3.2ish miles. But then there's also about a mile loop for individuals that have strollers and just want to take a nice, relaxing walk," PurpleStride Chair Avianna Carilli said.
