Preheat the oven to 190C/170C Fan/Gas 5 and grease and line a 20cm/8in deep round cake tin. Whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda in a large bowl. Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour in the milk. Crack in the eggs, pour in the oil and whisk to a thick batter. Mix the boiling water with the coffee granules and pour into the cake mix. Mix until it forms a very runny cake batter.

Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6. Grease and line a 23cm/9in round springform cake tin. Melt the butter and chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of gently bubbling water or in the microwave. Mix well then leave to cool a little. Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar in a large bowl for 3 minutes, until pale and thick. Fold in the chocolate mixture and cocoa powder. Whisk the egg whites with clean electric beaters in a separate bowl until they form stiff peaks.

Place the chocolate, butter, eggs and sugar into a bowl and mix together well. Add the flour, baking powder, cherries and cherry juice and fold together until smooth. Grease two mugs with butter, then spoon the mixture into each until three-quarters full. Cover each with cling film, place in the microwave and cook on full power for 2 minutes. Remove the cling film and cook for a further 30 seconds, or until risen and cooked through.

Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6. Put the hazelnuts on a baking tray and roast them in the centre of the oven for 10 minutes, giving the pan a shake halfway through, until they are golden brown. Watch them carefully so that they don’t burn. Remove and leave them to cool for a few minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 180C/350F/Gas 4.Butter a 23cm/9in springform cake tin and line the base with baking parchment.

Line a 12-hole fairy cake tin with paper cases. Melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter in a bowl set over a saucepan of gently simmering water (do not let the base of the bowl touch the water). Stir the mixture until smooth. Remove the bowl from the heat and gently stir in the cornflakes until all of the cereal is coated in the chocolate. Divide the mixture between the paper cases and press 3 chocolate eggs into the centre of each nest. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour, or until completely set.
