This comes after the association was denied an application to convert Neville High School into a Type 3 charter school on Jan. 14, 2025. Monroe City School Board District 2 Representative Jennifer Haneline posted the results of the vote on her Facebook page.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Focus on Education Luncheon will take place on April 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Monroe Convention Center. The luncheon will focus on the state of education in Ouachita Parish and feature Ouachita Parish School Superintendent Todd Guice. Guice will answer questions from the community during the event. MONROE, La. (KNOE) — The University of Louisiana Monroe’s 18th annual Wine Over Water event will be held on Thursday, April 24, from 7-10 p.m. on the ULM bridge over Bayou Desiard on Northeast Drive. The event is hosted by the ULM Alumni Association and aims to support ULM scholarships and alumni chapters. According to event organizers, attendees will get to stroll across the ULM bridge while sampling hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants.

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A Monroe woman was charged with 56 counts of animal cruelty on April 8. This comes after the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office was called by animal control on April 2 to do a welfare check on the home of 57-year-old Janelle Mills. When no one answered, additional deputies were dispatched. OPSO officials said that after announcing their presence several times, they decided to forcefully enter the home.
