At Kehilath Israel Synagogue in Overland Park, Kansas, Senior Rabbi Moshe Grussgott is preparing for a special Sabbath sermon this Saturday aimed at helping his congregation begin the healing process. “I think even rabbis struggle with that,” said Grussgott.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - George Wendt, known for his role as Norm Peterson on the classic sitcom ‘Cheers,’ is being remembered in Kansas City. The actor passed away Monday morning at the age of 76. A proud graduate of Rockhurst University, Wendt earned his degree in economics in 1971. Faculty at Rockhurst say Wendt remained involved with the university long after his time as a student.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - The City of Lawrence is implementing a new parking policy giving drivers with unpaid parking tickets the ‘boot’. Beginning Monday, drivers with three or more unpaid parking tickets older than 60 days could find a boot on their car. The driver will also receive a 48-hour notice that the car could be impounded if the parking tickets aren’t paid. A civil process will apply to all parking violations received from January 1, 2025.

GARDNER, Kan. (KCTV) - Days after residents at the Aspen Place Apartments in Gardner were forced to evacuate with just 48 hours’ notice, the community is stepping up to provide support in powerful ways. At Grace Baptist Church, volunteers created a call center to organize donations and housing resources. The effort has already raised more than $100,000 to help cover the cost of temporary housing and now, permanent relocation.
