After this year’s Game Awards, it’s hard not to get swept up in celebrating the juggernauts of the industry, who showcase the technological capability of video games. Notable is the immense value placed on hyper-realistic graphics and vast open worlds, but when a little goober called Astro Bot won Game of the Year, it got me thinking of what I and so many other players still wanted in our modern games.

I want to state this right now: I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I chose to review this game. My impulsive tendency to just look at an indie game, think it looks wacky, and immediately want to play it allows me to stray out of my comfort zone and encounter games that I never would try on paper. And let me tell you, whatever you know or expect from this game will not prepare you for the ride Death of the Reprobate takes you on.

One of Mohamed Al Fayed's brothers also abused women who worked at the Harrods department store, according to three ex-employees who have made allegations including sexual assault and trafficking to the BBC. The women allege that Salah Fayed abused them in London, the south of France and Monaco between 1989 and 1997. One woman believes she was raped by Salah after she was drugged. All three women say they were also sexually assaulted or raped by Mohamed Al Fayed, then chairman of the company.

2 years ago, Shinnosuke Nohara and his family spent their summer vacation in the fields and mountains of Asso. 2 years later, the family now ventures to a quaint village in the Akita prefecture for more of the same fun and games. While Shiro and the Coal Town replicates a lot of past features, like farming and fishing to fill out your compendium, there are some extra twists and turns that made the experience feel more polished and realized.

What comes to mind when I initially saw 90’s Japanese manga icon Shinnosuke Nohara, plastered on a cozy life sim game was the infestation of movie-to-video game adaptations in the game market. From Finding Nemo on PS2, to Harry Potter on the DS, I was skeptical that Shin chan was being used as a marketing pull for long-time fans to buy a lackluster game.

With such a brief playtime of 3 hours, it’s hard to really dive into what makes Neva so special as a video game. Densely packed with symbolism and meaning, painted with stunning visuals, and tied together with delicate yet forceful motions in its gameplay, Nomada has once again created something raw with emotional passion.
