LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — On Thursday, friends and family are gathering at Miller Park in Lynchburg to honor the memory of six-year-old Kingston Campbell. On May 1, 2023, while playing video games in his home on Floyd Street, a bullet fired from outside pierced his bedroom wall and killed him. Two years later his loved ones gathered at nearby Miller Park to hold a service and release balloons in his honor. This is the second year they have held a balloon release.

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Nearly two years ago, an innocent six-year-old boy sat in his room playing video games when bullets shattered his windows and killed him. That child was named Kingston Campbell, and his killer has still not been found. As the second anniversary of Kingston's shooting arrives, ABC13's Paige Meyer looked into the case again to see where the investigation stands. She spoke to Kingston's aunts, who said the passing of time hasn't made it any easier for his family.

Business owners on the downtown square say they never could’ve predicted these two events happening within the span of two weeks. “Only in Alabama would that happen,” owner of Crawford’s Gifts, Regina Crawford, said. Crawford says the past few days have been nothing short of challenging for her small business.
