Overview: “The Quincy Avery Effect” chronicles his rise from Washburn backup QB through today, running his renowned QB Takeover training program. One of the best private quarterback coaches in America grew up in the Field neighborhood of south Minneapolis, not far from McRae Park, where he played football and other sports with similarly energetic local kids.

If you’re a Division III coach in these parts, it never hurts to have a kid on your team who’s passionate about food and nutrition. The St. Catherine’s women’s golf team discovered that in a delightful way a few months back on a spring break trip to Arizona. Katie Reeves, a graduate student from White Bear Lake in St. Kate’s demanding nutrition and dietetics program, prepared two meals from scratch for her Wildcats teammates and coaches.

Everyone around the Minnesota Frost remembers the origin of the monikers differently. Coach Ken Klee thinks it started with an idle conversation among the players — if you were an animal, what would you be? Or maybe Taylor Heise and Grace Zumwinkle, two of the club’s best forwards and leading characters, came up with it on their own, inspired by a TikTok meme. However it happened, if you ask Frost players who among them best answers to “black cat” and “golden retriever,” there’s no debate.

See if you can identify the struggling Major League Baseball club by the following clues:The passionate fan base rips ownership and the chief baseball executive for being cheap. The off-season passed without a single major free agent signing or significant trade. Attendance is way off at the club’s downtown stadium, the one with the statues outside, and it’s hard to see that changing in a hurry. Pretty obvious which club I’m talking about, right? Wrong. It’s the St. Louis Cardinals.

Since their rain-soaked first game as an independent club in 1993, the St. Paul Saints have staked out a niche as an incubator of zany. The between-innings gags, the “usher-tainers” roaming the stands, the squealing pig mascot, the offbeat giveaways (bobble-foot dolls, a classic) and all the other bits established the Mike Veeck-led Saints as the industry leaders in nutty ways to attract fans. Things toned down a bit after the Saints became a Class AAA affiliate of the Twins in 2021.

Rocco Baldelli said Royce Lewis has a "left hamstring strain of some kind." "He actually tested relatively well after the game upon examination in the training room. We’re going to bring him in tomorrow and check him out, see how he comes in."
