The first concert of the 2025 season at the Fruit Yard Amphitheater in Modesto features Chris Young. The community also can turn out to celebrate “Star Wars,” Cinco de Mayo and Jewish culture at special events. These are just some of the entertainment options planned for May 3-9 in the Modesto region. Country singer Chris Young will perform a concert at the Fruit Yard Amphitheater in Modesto. Young was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2017.

Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is among several artists headed for Ironstone Amphitheatre in Murphys. ZZ Top also leads a trio of classic rock bands for a concert added to this season’s lineup. Another new show will feature Damian and Stephen Marley. Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band will play 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Mother Lode venue. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, May 2.

It’s time to dig deep into spring fun as May brings some of the greater Modesto region’s larger festivals and celebrations. Among the highlights are Modesto Porchfest, which draws the community to neighborhoods for a day of outdoor music at several homes. Also planned are Cinco de Mayo celebrations, the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee and the Central Valley Brewfest.

Modesto-bred actor Timothy Olyphant has a “malevolent” role in a Netflix movie premiering Friday, April 25. “Havoc” stars Tom Hardy as “a jaded detective” who tangles with mob figures, according to a story on UPROXX. “With a 105-minute runtime, Havoc is described as ‘a high octane action thriller’ with a malevolent Timothy Olyphant included as a bonus,” according to the story. It’s directed by Gareth Evans, who won acclaim for his action flick “The Raid: Redemption” and its sequel.
