    Modesto-bred actor Timothy Olyphant has a “malevolent” role in a Netflix movie premiering Friday, April 25. “Havoc” stars Tom Hardy as “a jaded detective” who tangles with mob figures, according to a story on UPROXX. “With a 105-minute runtime, Havoc is described as ‘a high octane action thriller’ with a malevolent Timothy Olyphant included as a bonus,” according to the story. It’s directed by Gareth Evans, who won acclaim for his action flick “The Raid: Redemption” and its sequel.

Opera Modesto offers the comedic “Falstaff,” and a Cinco de Mayo celebration is planned. These are just some of the entertainment options in the Stanislaus County region from Aug. 26 through May 2. The Jacksons recently celebrated 50 years as one of the most successful groups in music history, starting out as the Jackson 5. It had four debut singles that reached No. 1 on the charts.

The City of Modesto’s Earth Day in the Park is a community event to celebrate sustainability and environmentalism. Jeff Foxworthy will play at 5 p.m. June 1, his first-ever performance at the downtown Modesto venue, according to its website. Limited tickets, $77-$147, remain for his show. Foxworthy has been part of the popular Blue Collar Comedy tours, films and broadcasts. He’s known for his jokes about rednecks, family interactions and human nature, the website says.
