There’s no shortage of exhibition space at The Current, but Stowe’s student artists have filled every inch for the 43rd annual Student Art Show. The show, which is up until the end of May, features artwork created by students throughout the year, including wire spiders from high schoolers, Andy Warhol-inspired prints from second graders and treehouses from middle schoolers. Every student was guaranteed at least one piece in the show and some had several.

A national protest of President Donald Trump’s administration, which saw massive crowds in major U.S. cities, localized last week as residents near Wolcott organized a surprisingly well-attended protest of their own. A crowd of roughly 75 people straddled either side of Route 15 where it cuts through Wolcott, with horns blazing as cars drove passed the demonstration.

The Clarina Howard Nichols Center has been busier than ever in recent years. It just needs more people to know about it. Founded in 1981, the Clarina Howard Nichols Center in Morrisville serves survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking in Lamoille County. The organization’s namesake, Clarina Howard Nichols, was a prominent journalist and activist in Vermont in the early 19th century who fought for women’s rights throughout the country.

The Town of Stowe has a new police chief. Brooke O’Steen, who has worked for the Stowe Police Department since 2016, was sworn in Monday and began in the role almost immediately after. O’Steen’s hire ends a months-long search for a new chief, following the retirement of former police chief Don Hull in December. Town manager Charles Safford said it’s a new chapter for the department.
