JENISON, MI – Alli Wright and Madi Ludema both have promising softball futures that will eventually make them teammates at Grand Valley State University. But on Thursday, the two GVSU commits squared off in Game 1 of a state-ranked doubleheader between Jenison and Wayland. Ludema’s Wayland team got the better of Wright and her Jenison squad with an 8-6 win in the highly anticipated opener, but the host Wildcats got revenge in Game 2, pulling away for an 8-2 victory.

HUDSONVILLE, MI – With a 3-0 win over Grosse Ile in last year’s Division 3 girls soccer state finals, Unity Christian celebrated a 12th championship, and if the Crusaders can extend their title streak to three later this spring, it will carry some historical significance. Unity Christian and Madison Heights Bishop Foley are tied for the Michigan High School Athletic Association record with a dozen championships, so another crown would set the Crusaders apart on a statewide stage.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan released its 2024-25 all-state teams this week, and 26 Grand Rapids-area girls made the cut, headlined by Rockford’s Anna Wypych earning a spot on the Best of the Best list, which recognizes the top players regardless of division. Seven more local athletes earned a BCAM’s Best nod, which is the coaches association’s version of first team all-state honors.

The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan released its annual “BCAM’s Best” boys high school hoops lists, which is its version of the all-state teams.
