    What a difference a year makes for Joseph Canzoneri. The 6-foot, 185-pound right-hander went from a bit player for Rogers last season to a conference starter that helped the Mounties win the Class 6A state championship. For his performance, Canzoneri was named the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Player of the Year. He didn't get the start in the championship game, but stepped in after the Mounties fell behind 3-0 early and gave his team the chance to rally.

    SOD POODLES 10, NATURALS 2Christian Cerda went 4-for-5 with a home runs and 3 RBI to lead Amarillo to a big win over Northwest Arkansas on Saturday night in Arvest Ballpark. Amarillo jumped to a 5-0 lead after three innings keyed by Cerda's two-run double against Naturals starter Ben Kudrna (1-5). Jonatan Bernal (1-0) pitched five scoreless innings to pick up the win for Amarillo (31-37). He allowed just two hits, struck out four and walked two. No Natural had more than one hit.

    SOD POODLES 7, NATURALS 1Lead-off man Manuel Pena hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs to lead Amarillo past Northwest Arkansas on Friday evening in Arvest Ballpark. Pena led off the game with a solo shot in the top of the first and added a two-run home run in the second off Naturals starter Steven Zobac (0-1) as the Sod Poodles grabbed a 5-0 lead after three innings. Ivan Melendes added three hits with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored for the Sod Poodles (30-37).
