One of the most senior figures in the Kinahan Organised Crime Group, who is wanted in Ireland to face charges of murder and involvement with a criminal gang, has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates. Sean McGovern, who was named in the Special Criminal Court as one of the leaders of the group, is on a Defence Forces military aircraft to Ireland. The Irish Air Corps Airbus C295 plane which is bringing him back to Ireland is due to land later today.

A man has been arrested after a garda was knocked down in Finglas. The garda, who is a member of the Finglas Drugs Unit, was hit by a stolen motorcycle and sustained serious leg injuries. He is currently receiving treatment in hospital. The driver of the motorbike tried to escape on foot but was chased and apprehended by other gardaí. He is being detained at a garda station in west Dublin. Gardaí were carrying out a drugs patrol in the area at the time of the incident.

Two teenagers have been jailed for nine years for the gangland murder of a gunman who shot dead another man at a restaurant in Dublin almost a year and a half ago. 26-year-old Tristan Sherry shot and fatally injured Jason Hennessy Senior, who was out for a meal with family and friends on Christmas Eve 2023. Three others have been jailed for four, three and one year and four months respectively for violent disorder for their roles in the attack that night.
