A teenager has won dismissal of murder charges and was put on supervised probation for killing another teenager during an underage drinking party in western Minnesota. Under an agreement between the County Attorney's Office and the defense, Paul was given three years of supervised release that he will serve in the secure residential section of the West Central Regional Juvenile Center in Moorhead.

A Minnesota sheriff's deputy was critically injured in a two-vehicle crash on an interstate in southwestern Minnesota, officials said Monday. The wreck involving two SUVs occurred about 4:30 p.m. Sunday on westbound Interstate 90 in Dewald Township, the State Patrol said. Nobles County Sheriff's Deputy Arnold Logan Waldner, 30, of nearby Worthington, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, Sheriff Ryan Kruger said.

Federal prosecutors on Monday announced they are charging a 31-year-old man with soliciting prostitution from a Bloomington police detective posing as a 17-year-old girl, as part of the same sting that nabbed former state Sen. Justin Eichhorn. Marwan Taweeleh, of Shakopee, was charged last week in U.S. District Court with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor as a registered sex offender. Last month, Eichorn had his charge for soliciting a minor for sex moved from state to federal court.

A man is on the run and considered armed and dangerous, officials said, after he fatally shot a man in Moorhead over the weekend. The shooting occurred about 9:30 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 2700 block of 14th Street S, police said. Officers arriving at the scene found a man, who was pronounced dead. "Early information shows this does not appear to be a random act," a police statement read. Police were told the suspect fled the scene in a green new model mid-size Chevy SUV.

A trucker turned into the path of a freight train in southern Minnesota, igniting an explosion of grain from his trailer and leaving the driver with minor injuries, officials said. The collision occurred about 2:15 p.m. Friday northeast of Sleepy Eye on tracks running parallel to westbound Hwy. 14, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said. The impact put a big dent in the train engine's nose, while the semi's trailer was totaled, the Sheriff's Office said.
