The Mason Independent School District posted the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach position as available on its website, indicating the school district is moving on from athletic director/head football coach Michael McLeod, as first reported by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. Rumblings of the position opening began in late March when the athletic director position with possible football coach responsibilities attached was posted on the school’s website.

BRONTE — Long-time Bronte volleyball and basketball coach Carol Moore announced her retirement at the end of the year. Moore began her career as a basketball coach at Bronte in 2003, two years after coaching in Crosbyton and 13 in San Angelo. In 2016, though, she took over the Bronte volleyball program, where she found state success. In 2017, Moore led the Lady Longhorns to the state final and won the championship. She was named Class 1A Coach of the Year by the Texas Sports Writers Association.

WALL — Wall baseball’s Gunnar Dillard does not usually find himself on the mound. However, needing three outs to close out a 13-2 win over District 6-3A rival Clyde in five innings, Dillard was more than happy to do whatever it took to get the big home victory Tuesday for the Hawks. AdvertisementDillard stepped to the mound and got his three outs on 17 pitches, including two strikeouts. The last strikeout came against Clyde’s top hitter, Ethan Guzman, who is hitting 0.719 on the season.
