Univision 41 TV news reporter Jaime Peluffo died Thursday in San Antonio after a battle with cancer. He was 53 years old. Peluffo, a married father of two, worked for the Spanish-language TV networks Univision and Telemundo for more than 20 years, according to his obituary. He graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Editor's Note: This story contains graphic descriptions of animal abuse. A Parker County man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for torturing and killing kittens while working at an animal shelter there. Gabriel Skyler Caswell, 23, of Weatherford, has been convicted of 15 charges of cruelty to non-livestock animals. Caswell pleaded guilty Tuesday to 12 of those charges and was sentenced to 10 years in prison in each of those cases.

Reported cases of norovirus - a brief, but miserable illness - have generally been rising across the country in recent months, according to national data, but people can help protect themselves by practicing good hygiene. No outbreaks have been reported locally, according to the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District. And the Texas Department of State Health Services said it's not aware of any recent, significant outbreaks in the Lone Star State.

Suzanne Clark Simpson, 51, is an Olmos Park real estate agent and married mother of four who disappeared the night of Oct. 6. She was last seen late that night outside of her home in the 500 block of East Olmos Drive by a neighbor, who saw Simpson having a physical altercation with her husband, Brad Chandler Simpson, 53, who pulled her to the ground as she tried to get away. A short time later, the same neighbor heard two or three screams from a wooded area near the Simpsons' home.
