(WAFB) - As the fentanyl and opioid crisis continues to devastate communities across Louisiana, one organization in Livingston Parish is taking a unique approach to prevention by recruiting students to lead the charge. Students Against Destructive Decisions, or SADD, is a nonprofit that trains high school students to teach drug prevention lessons to younger children, some as young as five years old. The goal is to reach students as early as possible.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB/Gray News) - A Louisiana mother is living every parent’s worst nightmare after her 3-year-old son was shot while playing outside their home. Trentavous Lewis, a 3-year-old boy also known as “Tren Tren,” was outside with his cousins last Tuesday evening when someone started shooting outside his Baton Rouge home, WAFB reports. “We see a group of boys that looked like teenagers walking up the road with their guns out,” said Trentavous’ mother, Breniya Lewis.
