PENN YAN — A three-game spring break schedule in Massachusetts made for calloused minds and bodies for the Penn Yan Academy girls lacrosse team. A trio of games against the top teams from the Bay State is all part of head coach Chris Hansen’s plan for helping the Mustangs prepare for a late postseason run. Though the Mustangs return home this weekend, the brutal schedule continues with a high-caliber Saturday matchup against the Canandaigua Academy Gray Wolves.

The Finger Lakes East will once again name a Player of the Week throughout the 2025 softball season. After playing an independent schedule in 2024, the Bloomfield Bombers have joined the Finger Lakes East and have made an immediate impact. For Week 1 of the season, Bloomfield stormed out of the gates on fire, led by senior star pitcher Ashlyn Wright. Wright led the Bombers to an 8-1 season-opening win at Mynderse Academy. The Bombers went on to a 12-0 win over the Blue Devils three days later.
