Her speech promoted representation in wellness, the power of individuality in community settings and the necessity of disrupting dominant narratives.

    On Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m., Claremont College students began gathering outside Pomona College’s Smith Campus Center for “Shut Pom Down for Palestine,” part of a “global call” to action for divestment organized by Palestinian Youth Movement, National Students for Justice in Palestine and International People’s Assembly. This protest comes just over two weeks after hundreds of 7C students walked out of classes to demand Pomona divest from Israeli companies.

    On Saturday, Nov. 4, more than 20 5C BIPOC student artists and vendors gathered at Pomona College’s Benton Museum of Art to sell and showcase their art. As lively dance music and laughter filled the air, vendors represented themselves and the organizations they came with. Hosted by the Asian American Sponsor Program (AASP) in collaboration with several 5C affinity groups, the event aimed to promote BIPOC student artists while cultivating a shared space for the BIPOC community.

Weitzman offered his life and career advice, sharing his mantra of taking the “road less traveled,” a quote originally penned by poet Robert Frost. Weitzman offered sound advice while recalling the journey of his 60-year shoe-making journey.
