NORTH PORT, Fl. — It’s been less than a week since new Atlanta Braves OF Jurickson Profar arrived in North Port, Florida to meet his new teammates and coaches. He arrived with Pitchers and Catchers on Feb. 12. Already the 31-year-old Curacao native says he feels like he’s at home. Profar told reporters at the Braves Spring Training facility on Friday he could barely contain his excitement over being there, “I couldn’t wait and I can’t wait to put this uniform on opening day and the season.

ATHENS, Ga. — It’s the NCAA, so nothing is official until and sometimes after it is official, but injured former Georgia Bulldogs QB Carson Beck appears to have put his name into college football’s Transfer Portal. Beck, who was injured during the SEC Championship game against Texas in December, announced shortly after the Bulldogs lost their College Football Playoff game to Notre Dame that he would declare for the NFL Draft.

ATLANTA — Fresh off of the most successful regular season in several years, Georgia Tech Head Football Coach Brent Key and Athletic Director J. Batt are getting new, five-year contracts for the holidays. The Yellow Jackets are headed to a bowl game this December on the heels of a 7-5 regular season and a tie for third place in the ACC at 5-3. The Jackets had upset wins over previously 4th-ranked Miami and took 7th-ranked Georgia to eight overtimes the day after Thanksgiving before losing 44-42.

ATLANTA — With only a handful of days allowed to make decisions on pending Free Agents, the Atlanta Braves made a flurry of decisions Monday afternoon that could reshape the team in 2025. Designated Hitter Marcell Ozuna will be back after the team picked up his $16 million option for 2025, put declined the team options on Catcher and fan-favorite Travis d’Arnaud and Relief Pitcher Luke Jackson.
